About Me

Hi, I’m Kate

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2016. My experience spans from juvenile detention to private practice in the Memorial area – with a number of stops along the way. I’ve worked with all age ranges, income brackets, sexualities, and presenting concerns.  There isn’t much I haven’t seen, and yet, I am constantly impressed by the originality and ingenuity that my clients possess when tackling their problems. One of the joys of my work is getting to interact with individuals from a variety of different backgrounds.  Whether you are just like me or nothing like me, you are welcome in my office. I will strive to see your world as it is to you and help you shape it into what you want it to be.

My strengths in the therapy room include my empathy and intuition.  Sometimes I hear what my clients aren’t saying more loudly than what they are saying.  I notice patterns, and I don’t shy away from sharing them.  In session, we’ll spend a lot of time processing not just your thoughts, but the ‘why’ behind them. That’s where the work is – and it’s also where the healing is. We’ll dig down into the reasons for your beliefs about yourself and the world, learn how those beliefs were shaped, and then decide if they still fit or need to be adjusted.

I have extensive experience with adolescents, parents, and families. I work with clients who are struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, parenting – particularly parenting high needs kids, ADHD, LGBTQIA+ issues, and other concerns.  In short – I work with normal people trying to navigate life’s normal problems. I also specialize in PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance/Persistent Drive for Autonomy).

I approach therapy from a person-centered lens, meaning we will tailor your therapy to your needs. I strongly believe that you already have what you need to overcome any obstacle you face. Sometimes you just need someone to help you see that.
